Let them fight for history!

I find it funny that an American writer Michael Marley has been the one leading the online rally for Pacquiao's historic 7th title. (Kudos to Marley!) Where are the other Filipino writers? I believe Filipinos should unite to support Pacquaio on this historic quest!

Although belts don't matter for some writers and fans, I believe that titles are still titles. As long as you seek to fight the best opposition possible, no one should question the legitimacy of your title belt. And it is better to have one than not having one at all, right? After all, the legitimacy of the fight itself and the greatness of the two warriors won't be diminished just because this fight will be sanctioned by an alphabet organization.

Titles should be earned and lost inside the ring

Cotto, on his part, should risk his belt simply because he is a warrior. If he really believes he's the best fighter, he should understand that the tag of being the champion should be earned and lost inside the ring.

I'm calling all the fans, not just of Pacquiao but also of Cotto, to rally online and make a noise.

Make this a title fight. Let the two fighters write their own history, and ultimately solidify their already secured legacies.
