"Let's make it a title fight."
The pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao issued this challenge to Miguel Cotto. Obviously, he was referring to their superfight set on Novermber 14 in Las Vegas.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum announced last week that Cotto doesn't want to defend his WBO welterweight crown because of the sanctioning fee, which is believed to cost each fighter around 150,000 dollars each. This is peanuts relative to Pacquiao and Cotto's purse.
According to the report of Abac Cordero of Philstar, Manny said he is willing to pay the sanction fee for the satisfaction of the greater majority of the fans.
Manny also added, "But I don't know with Cotto. It seems that he doesn't want to pay."
Manny Pacquiao's lawyer Franklin Gacal said he already talked to Arum about Pound-for-Pound king's wish. He also asked WBO President Paco Valcarcel to sanction the catchweight fight as a title bout.
Now, it is in Cotto's hands. Let's wait and see.
