Wildcard is Manny’s best choice; Please buy Mayweather tickets

By Ronsouthpaw

Seems like every person around Manny Pacquiao has their own suggestion on where should the Pound-for-Pound champ train for the first half of his training camp in his fight again Miguel Cotto.

Cebu. Previous reports said Manny has been planning to spend the first half of his training in Cebu City, Philippines, which produced a lot of negative reactions from the fans. Maybe, the Barrera rematch in 2007 was still fresh in their minds where we saw a relatively sluggish fighter in Manny. Too many distractions. No. No. No.

Bahamas. Bob Arum has recently promoted Bahamas as a possible training camp. Yes... That beautiful place--blue water, white sand, clear sky and fresh air. Looks like a perfect place huh.

"Manny's going to love it there... The weather is similar to that of the Philippines and everything there will be first-class," the Harvard-educated lawyer said, obviously trying to persuade Manny not to train in the Philippines.

Hold your horses.

Manny is going to train and not taking a vacation, right? He needs a place where he will get pumped up not mellowed down. So could you please scratch that from the list, Uncle Bob?

Vancouver. Manny's Chief Legal Adviser Franklin Gacal prefers Vancouver, Canada because of it's near the United States and because of the large Filipino community there, a move that can maximize pay-per-view buys.

I must say those are great place, but we should always remember where Manny feels at best and at home---Wildcard Boxing Gym.

(I read a good blog on WCG)

Manny's performance in his last three fights were phenomenal, and most of them should be credited for his 8-week training camps held in that famous gym.

So as a fan, where do you like Manny hold the first half (or the whole duration) of his training camp?

In the Philippines with millions of fans lining up for his autograph? In the splendid Bahamas island? Or, in a great city like Vancouver?

There's no wrong answer, really. But if I may give my two cents in, I would rather have Manny train for 8 weeks in that good 'ol sweaty gym along Vine Street.

Postscript

Please buy Mayweather tickets. He looks so desperate trying to use Manny's name for his own event. You read it right---"event" not "fight."

I highly recommend this blogsite for boxing-related updates: The Fighting Pride
